SMORE Alaska completed their fieldwork in the lagoons and coastal ocean in Barrow just before the weather began to change. We’ve held several teleconferences with our partner schools in Texas and Georgia to review the overall results of our sampling. The kids have loved doing the testing and the chance to collaborate with others across the country. They are very interested in water quality due to the importance of whaling to our community. We’re now looking at options for doing more with programs such as GEO-FORCE, Whale Fest, and the US Forest and Wildlife Service to expand on our experiences!
